Supernova Ia and Galaxy Cluster Gas Mass Fraction Constraints on Dark Energy
نویسندگان
چکیده
We use the Riess et al. (2004) supernova Ia apparent magnitude versus redshift data and the Allen et al. (2004) galaxy cluster gas mass fraction versus redshift data to constrain dark energy models. These data provide complementary constraints that when combined together significantly restrict model parameters and favor slowly-evolving dark energy density models, close to the Einstein cosmological constant limit of dark energy. Subject headings: cosmology: cosmological parameters—cosmology: observations— X-rays: galaxies: clusters—supernovae: general

Constraints from Hubble Parameter versus Redshift Data
We use the Simon, Verde, & Jimenez (2005) determination of the redshift dependence of the Hubble parameter to constrain cosmological parameters in three dark energy cosmological models. We consider the standard ΛCDM model, the XCDM parameterization of the dark energy equation of state, and a slowly rolling dark energy scalar field with an inverse power-law potential. The constraints are restric...

Galaxy cluster gas mass fraction versus redshift data (Allen et al. 2004) and Hubble parameter versus redshift data (Simon et al. 2005) are used to jointly constrain dark energy models. These constraints favor the Einstein cosmological constant limit of dark energy but do not strongly rule out slowly-evolving dark energy. Subject headings: cosmology: cosmological parameters — cosmology: observa...
متن کاملNew constraints on dark energy from the observed growth of the most X-ray luminous galaxy clusters
We present constraints on the mean matter density, Ωm, the normalization of the density fluctuation power spectrum, σ8, and the dark-energy equation-of-state parameter, w, obtained from measurements of the X-ray luminosity function of the largest known galaxy clusters at redshifts z < 0.7, as compiled in the Massive Cluster Survey (MACS) and the local BCS and REFLEX galaxy cluster samples. Our ...
متن کاملThe Observed Growth of Massive Galaxy Clusters I: Statistical Methods and Cosmological Constraints
This is the first of a series of papers in which we derive simultaneous constraints on cosmological parameters and X-ray scaling relations using observations of the growth of massive, X-ray flux-selected galaxy clusters. Our data set consists of 238 clusters drawn from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey, and incorporates extensive follow-up observations using the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Here we descri...
